Stretching Stations provides more than just a “feel good” program. We provide evidence-based results using Active Isolated Stretching (AIS)
Our manual therapists are trained in Active Isolated Stretching, an athletic stretching technique created by famed kinesiotherapist Aaron Mattes.
AIS provides assisted stretching of the major muscle groups in short, 2 second intervals while incorporating breath therapy. This skilled type of stretching effectively promotes circulation, decreases joint stiffness and improves flexibility.
AIS has been proven to be effective in the treatment and relief of:
Shoulder Impingement
General pain and soreness
Tenosynovitis
Muscle Strain
Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease
Soft Tissue Injuries
Inflammation
Stress fractures
Repetitive Motion Injuries such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Medial Epicondylitis (Golfer’s Elbow)
Fibromyalgia
And many, many more!
Why is this type of stretching and fitness therapy important?
Prolonged sitting has been deemed the “silent killer,” leading to a multitude of chronic health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity.
Researchers have claimed that light to moderate activity every 30 minutes have significant effects in the way that fat is stored in the body and plays a huge part in reducing health risks.
Ergonomists frequently recommended that long periods of seated activity should be alternated with standing and moving for 1-2 minutes every 20 to 30 minutes. These frequent breaks improve work performance, reduces the risks of musculoskeletal injuries and relieve stress.
